You should be prepared to play ping-pong just like you are mentally prepared for any other sport. It helps if you prepare early on days before the game starts by studying your opponents and finding out what their strengths and weaknesses are. However, if you didn’t prepare like this, you can easily find out their strengths and weaknesses by being “The Explorer”.

By playing the Explorer, your tactic is to feel out your opponents by sending him or her many different types of shots. In order to be effective at the explorer tactic, you are going to have to make use of many different types of shots when the game starts, like counter drives, loops, drives, blocks, spins, pushes, and many other types of shots.

By doing this, you will be able to adjust quickly and determine what shots are your opponent’s weakness. You should also hit the ball at various speeds and try out different kinds of serves.

As was previously mentioned, this is going to help you narrow down exactly what your opponent strong points and weak points are. By doing this, you will be able to avoid giving them balls that they are strong at and concentrate more on their weaknesses.

For example, if you observed that your opponent is weak on his or her backhand, you should try and give him or her more backhands. That isn’t the only strategy you could use the, you can use another strategy in which you control the game right from the get-go and bring it onto your opponent and adjust as you go. This is known as the “dominator” trait.

What a dominator does is that they will use their best shots at the beginning of the game. You control the gameplay this way by forcing your opponent to make the adjustments to your style instead of the other way around. As you can see this can be a really good position to be in, but you also need to know how to adjust to your opponent as well. Being unable to make adjustments to your opponents gameplay in many instances will cost you the game.

Being a dominator means that you need to start the game with your best shots and adjust according to the response of your opponent to your shots.

You now need to make the decision on which type of player you are, either an explorer or a dominator. A good ping pong player will have a mixture of both and one that can adjust to their opponents quickly.

So it really doesn’t matter which type of player you are, in the end that you need to learn how to adjust your opponent so that you can come out the victor at the end.
