Fitness can start at any level and is good for the body. Cardio exercises are especially good for the heart. Often people will find that developing a routine workout will benefit them in more than one way, especially with weight loss.

Swimming has long been touted as the ideal workout for those who are elderly and have joint troubles. It is less stressful on the body, yet provides a good workout and burns calories faster.

This is because swimming involves the whole body and is great for anyone of any fitness level.

Walking has its advantages too for those whose mobility is not as good as it once was. Walking is a great way to get a cardio workout while limiting the stress on weak joints. The greatest advantage gained is if you do it more than once a week and for at least an hour a day.

Jogging is more of a high impact cardio workout and may not be suitable for all fitness levels. Those who are in great shape and have a high fitness level tend to benefit more from jogging because of the increased heart rate. For those who have joint issues and limited mobility, this would not be ideal or advantageous to them.

Because of the benefits of biking, some people prefer this method of cardio workout over walking and jogging. Biking is ideal if you want to travel and save gas and wear and tear on your vehicle.

For the social aspect of working out why not try basketball or even tennis? Both these activities provide a good cardio workout and they each have their own specific areas of the body that is concentrated on. Basketball provides a workout for your legs because you must remain in motion throughout the game.

Tennis is a wonderful way to meet and socialize with friends while you are getting an upper body workout with the fast motions of the game.

Either method you choose will work wonders for your heart and overall fitness level.
