Why Female Tennis Should be Revered

Honestly, why are things this way?

When Steffi Graf dominated the tennis court the media did not enjoy it. When the Williams sisters were destroying anyone on her road to the finals, the public did not like it. And presently when titles are wide open to a bigger field? Tennis lovers do not prefer it.

The majority admit that the Williams girls stand above and out of the rest most of the time. However injuries and abridged non-Slam tournament schedules mean they currently meet in the draw before the finals. Though once more allow us to remember that just a season or two ago the above-mentioned whining with respect to this recurrent meeting in the championship and their domination over competing athletes.

So presently we have Dinara Safina boasting the number place in the WTA race and the US Open seeds. And what exactly do fans say? She doesn’t deserve it since she has not won a Grand Slam (and she has lost in a couple slam title recently.) Although she’s reaching the slam title and she’s reasonably engaging along the way, away from the tennis court as well.

Yesterday she was forced to battle it out yet again, very nearly becoming the 1st #1 seed to be beaten in the first round. Was it amusing? I thought it was. Although we will learn all regarding the illegitimacy of the ranking system, etc..

And then there was Venus Williams last night–moreover pushed to three sets. Moreover compelling. (Also note that Venus didn’t have the top of summers post Wimbledon.) Although likely to be heard is the prevalence of injuries among the sisters Williams and their “distractions” off the courts.

Furthermore now Kim Clijsters is back and instead of being wicked excited – which someone must be because she’s friendly and kind and a first-rate player – people are all like “all right what does this reveal about the girls game that she may come back and maintain a 6-2 win-defeat count for the summer year?”

Well I think it asserts that she – as she consistently has -conditions especially well. And that she’s a veteran and she has almost nothing to lose.

So let’s simply stop all the bashing, please. Agreed, there are problems in the girls game. (Like the lack of range in terms of playing style.) But I myself enjoy that it is anybody’s conjecture as to who will end up in the finals in under two weeks. And I look forward to watching how they end up there.
