Why Ladies’ Tennis Should be Revered

Honestly, why are things this way?

When Steffi Graf dominated the tennis world enthusiasts did not enjoy it. When both of the Williams girls were devastating everyone on their path to the title, tennis lovers did not like it. And now when titles are up for grabs? Tennis lovers don’t appreciate this.

The majority acknowledge that the Williams girls tower over the competition the majority of the time. However body defects and diminished non-Slam calendar years mean they presently play against one another prior to the title match. Although yet again allow us to recall that very recently the above-mentioned complaints regarding this recurrent matchup in the title match and their domination over competing players.

Well presently we have Dinara Safina at the #1 place in the ranks and the US Open seeds. And what exactly do fans say? She doesn’t deserve it because she has not won a Grand Slam (plus she has lost in a couple grand slam finals recently.) Although she’s getting to slam title and she is somewhat entertaining along the way, in the tennis world and in her personal life.

Today Safina had to fight it out again, nearly becoming the first number one seed to be defeated in the 1st round. Was this amusing? I thought it was. But we will hear all regarding the illegitimacy of the rank procedure, yada, yada.

And then there was Venus Williams last night–furthermore pushed to 3 sets. Additionally amusing. (Additionally note that Venus didn’t have the top of summers post Wimbledon.) Although probably to be heard is the prevalence of injuries among the sisters Williams and their “distractions” off the courts.

Plus presently Kim Clijsters is back and as opposed to being very psyched – which we ought to be because she is fun and kind and a respectable competitor – the media are all like “all right what does this indicate regarding the ladies game that she can come out of retirement and have a six and two record during the summer year?”

Well I suppose it proclaims that she – just like she consistently has -maintains her physical state fantastically well. And that she’s an experienced pro athlete and she has very nearly zero to lose.

So let’s just finish all the bashing, please. Yes, there are issues in the women’s game. (Some would include the lack of diversity in terms of playing technique.) Although I personally enjoy that it’s everyone’s conjecture as to who will be in that finals in under two weeks. And I am excited about watching how they get there.
