It is preferable that outdoor table tennis should be played only during the summer months. You might wonder why. This is because if you play in any other season, you will encounter stronger winds that will make it virtually impossible for you to play ping pong.
The wind can easily effect the fight of a table tennis ball because it is very light weight. Although the occasional breeze is welcome in outdoor ping pong, you need to remember that winds stronger than a breeze can blow away the ball in any direction. No matter what type of player you are indoors, enjoying a game outside will really make you have to adjust your game.
Being able to go outside and enjoy the sun is another reason that you should consider enjoying a game outdoors. You get to enjoy the benefits of all of the fresh air that you would miss out on if you were stuck playing inside all day. If it is a really hot day and the sun becomes an issue try finding a tree that you can play under in its shade.
When you plan on playing ping pong outside, it is important that the table should be set up on a flat concrete surface. Although enjoying a game on a grass surface is something that sounds very nice, setting up a table on a grass surface could very well disrupt the game as chances are the surface of the table would not be flat.
You may want to get a table that is designed to be played outside and should have wheels on each of the legs of the table. This will make it easier for you to transport the table and outdoor tables will last a lot longer and it can tolerate the harsh environment of the outdoors. However, you need to remember that although it can withstand the harsh environment, you shouldn’t leave the table outside as it can also degrade.
